We are Chad and Beth and have been married for 17 years! We met when Chad came to visit his sister at college, Beth’s roommate. The rest is history.
We have six crazy kids. First, came five boys and then, came a girl. We now have toddlers through teenagers and enjoy discovering and experiencing together – even when it is hectic (and that is an understatement)!
Originally named Hutch House, our family has always traveled together and gone on adventures. However, it wasn’t until we moved to Arkansas (we were west coast babies), that we realized that the tips and tricks we were using to travel with a large family could be so valuable to others and thus we picked a more fitting name – Big Adventure Fam.
We strive to experience and explore together! We journey to new places, visit the old favorites and explore places as a family and while doing so hope to help other families have the best experiences on their affordable family travel adventures.

THE JOURNEY HERE
Growing up and beginning to raise kids on the west coast, I was near family and an amazing support system of friends. After our last and sixth baby turned one, my husband’s job moved us to Arkansas, which was a three day drive away from any family.
I was excited for the move, but not ready for the emotional distress that would come by moving my family away from our support system. I had never experienced depression, but found myself a couple months in and crying on the floor, curled in the fetal position.
My 12 year old son found me and told me it was time to get some help.
I did get help and also realized that I needed to continue doing what previously brought myself and my family joy – exploring and going on family adventures.
In what felt like my lowest emotional state, our family adventure blog/vlog, Big Adventure Fam, was born.
Through mostly outdoor adventures, I have made a complete 360 turnaround emotionally. I have been able to find peace, make more friends and most importantly, become a more engaged and happy mom of six! I love seeing them learn and also explore the world around them. They push me to be more adventurous and I push them to try new things!
Exploring and going on family adventures has really healed me and continues to fulfill our lives as a family and for me, as a mother.
Our goal is to help other large families find ways to afford travel and make time to travel as a family in order to discover, experience and explore together.
