We spent one fun-filled day at Hot Springs National Park in Arkansas. We had been to other hot springs before where the kids were able to swim and enjoy as well. After doing some research, all of the hot springs at the national park are for adults only. Nonetheless, we wanted to check out the park as a family!

Camping the night before our adventure in the park was beautiful. It was during July and the Cicadas were so loud, but we all had a great night sleep and enjoyed some pastries from a local bakery in the morning.

People have been coming for years to bath in the 147 degrees thermal waters. Resorts began building around the waters and visitors would come from far and wide to the bathhouses for relaxation and therapy.

The main street of the city of Hot Springs is lined with restored resort fronts and is called Bathhouse Row. Only a few of these resorts are still functioning as bathhouses. Some have been turned into restaurants and others are part of the national park’s visitor centers. The main visitor center is located in Fordyce Bathhouse and allows people to tour what once was a fully functioning luxury bathhouse.

We walked along the trails above Bathhouse Row and were able to touch the springs coming out in multiple locations and look out on the gorgeous architecture along the main street.

The boys’ favorite thing to do was to see how long they could keep their hands in the water. Boys will be boys!!

One of the bathhouses has turned into a brewery. Here we enjoyed probably the BEST root beer that came in glass jugs. We later used the jugs to fill up at one of the waterspouts where locals were lined up with water jugs to fill and take home. They could enjoy fresh spring water once it had cooled down!

We ate lunch outside the Mountain Tower and then rode the elevator up the tower and enjoyed the views of the rolling hills and the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

After the tower, the kids were pretty exhausted and we were happy to call it a day and head home! What a beautiful, quaint town. We will definitely be returning for more adventures.
